Each Sindroms Magazine issue surprises us. In every issue the team of Sindroms magazine is exploring the different colour. This time – blue. What is behind the blue? We are talking with editor Kotryna Abravičiūte.

Could you tell us briefly – what we can find in BLUE issue?

When deciding to work with blue in 2021, we knew this issue was going to explore the blues. It was personal. It was necessary. We were coming out the other end of a year-long lockdown. Of missing family and friends. Of cancelled celebrations, projects and work gone to waste.

This edition is an exploration of the blues through emotional archeology. What makes us miss the things and people we miss? Is it important to cry? Why is romanticism a source of the blues, and what comfort food do we turn to when blue? What do we do in order to heal? What do designers and artists have to say on creating while feeling blue? How does it affect our creative process?

Going through the blues is a deeply personal journey, and so is this issue. Personal, subjective, unfiltered, as felt and lived by us and our contributors. Light at times, heavy at times. Just like the blues. We feel humbled and grateful to our contributors who have chosen to share pieces of themselves — of their blues, of their grief, of their hopes.

The Blue Sindrom is a collection of these pieces. Treat them kindly.

Why this BLUE issue has several covers?

The main reason is we really want to give freedom to our readers to choose a cover that reflects their blues the best. Pretty often Sindroms becomes a table accessory and we think that being able to choose its cover makes our readers even happier. It’s always so interesting to see how different people prefer completely different covers, as well as to hear the associations they have.

What kind of artists we could find in this issue?

In this issue, you’ll find names as a photographer Monika Dubinkaite and her still lifes, a writer Austin Sailsbury, fashion photographer Linus Morales, designer Stine Goya, chef, writer and food stylist Kai Semple, Muller van Severen creative collaboration, fashion photographer Javi Dardo, photographers Anastasia Kolesnichenko, Anne Marie Jo, illustrator Sainte Maria, and many others.
